Entry Requirements

To undertake this qualification students must meet the following entry requirements

• Students must be over 18 years of age,
• Students must have completed Year 12 certificate OR a minimum of Certificate III level course OR a minimum of Certificate III level course
• CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or
• CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or
• CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability plus the CHCSS0125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set
• Prospective learners are expected to be able to pass a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment to determine their ability to enrol in the program.
• Learning (ACSF Level 4), reading (ACSF Level 3), writing (ACSF Level 3), oral communication (ACSF Level 3) and numeracy (ACSF Level 3) are desirable to participate in the course. We administer an LLN test based on the desirable ACSF levels.
• Have a Working with Children Check.
• Have a National Criminal Police Check
• First aid certificate (HLTAID011)
• Have an updated Vaccination record
• Completed NDIS Online module (from NDIS Commission’s website)

Delivery Methods

We primarily offer two delivery modes for the qualification.

Face to Face Delivery: Delivering the training sessions as scheduled either one-on-one or in a group. To ensure maximum effectiveness, students will be learning topics one by one and undertake hands-on opportunities.

Self-Paced Learning: Undertake learning and evaluation assessments between face-to-face consultations. Typically, it is communicated through the instructor.

CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability is delivered totally within an institution-based environment and has a mandatory 120 hours of work placement.

This qualification CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support targets learners who wish to work in the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

About CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support

This qualification (CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support) reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Entry Requirements

To undertake this qualification students must meet the following requirements

• Be aged 18 years or over
• Have access to a computer with an internet browser, Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint installed;
• Have access to a stable internet connection
• Pass the ACSE LLN Test

Work Placement requirements (to be met prior to the mandatory work-placement activity):

• Have a Working with Children Check
• Pass a National Criminal Police Check
• Is physically, mentally and emotionally healthy to respond appropriately to personal and client needs to be able to undertake at least 120 hours of work placement
• First aid certificate (HLTAID011)

Delivery Methods

The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support training program is delivered face-to-face and has to undertake at least 120 of work placement activities. The learning activities in the classroom and on work placement will reinforce theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The course has been structured in a logical and practical sequence – providing an efficient service delivery model. We have taken a methodical and coherent process, with advice from the industry in determining which units are best in line with the industry’s requirements and whether a particular sequence of delivery is to be adapted for our cohort of learners.
Students are provided with an induction to the course, the outline of the learning and assessment processes, support services and other relevant information prior to the commencement of the course.
