CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
This qualification (CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care) reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for the supervision of volunteers or other educators.
About CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.
To achieve this qualification (CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care), the individual must have completed a total of least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

Entry Requirements
ACSE sets a number of its own entry requirements:
- The student’s needs and desired outcomes as the student indicates in the pre training review;
- The ability and commitment of the student to completing the course;
- Eligibility requirements as outlined in the applicable National Training Package;
- Student’s existing ability in the ACSF core skills (learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy).
Students not meeting these requirements will be directed to more suitable qualifications.
Minimum education standard
Hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
OR
CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Age restrictions
Students must be 18 years of age or above.
Work Placement requirements: (Prior to the mandatory work-placement)
- Have a Working with Children Check.
- Have a National Criminal Police Check
- Have a reasonable level of fitness to cope with standing, lifting, bending, twisting and reaching
- Are physically, mentally and emotionally healthy to respond appropriately to personal needs
Candidates must also have access to:
- A laptop or equivalent running or capable of running Microsoft Office 2010 or above
- Internet connection

Assessments
To successfully complete the course, you will be required to submit a range of formative and summative assessment items at pre-determined intervals where possible.
Assessment is used to provide candidates with feedback on their progress and to measure their skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements.

Fees are payable when you receive your confirmation of enrolment and invoice for the enrolment fee. Fees must be paid within 5 days of receiving this notification from ACSE.
